Are you stressed these days? Oh how I imagine life in general can cause someone to stress constantly. Work(all that comes with it),Paying bills,Caring for the house & those in it,Did you do this or did you do that, Do we have enough money this week for our basic needs…etc.
That is just daily routine things we think about and stress about. What about when we are trying to conceive?? That is another ball game. Did we baby dance on the right days, Did I take my temperature at the right time, Did I take the ovulation test at the right time, Did I pick my legs up high enough after baby dancing, Did I take all my vitamins, Did I drink enough water, Did I eat right today, Is this a symptom of pregnancy, When to take my pregnancy test???
The lists go on and on about all that we worry about, especially us women. I know for sure my mind races and races and I never can go to the next thing until I have figured out my first question of Did I do this?
Have you ever thought that this is my problem. This is why I am not expecting. This is why i’m infertile or haven’t had a little one yet. Stress plays a big role in this. I am first to admit that I literally stress over
Why do we do this? Why do our minds have to run and race until we have an answer? Why can’t we just observe, know how our bodies work and wait? I am sure we were wired to be the cautious one out of male and female. I don’t know about you but my husband sometimes jumps into those situations that are just not safe. He does this because they seem fun and exciting. Just ask him, he has laid on the ground and shot those fireworks that are placed in a tube with a long wick and when lit gives a big BANG! That is just one instance. He thought it was fun despite the consequences. On the other hand I seen him hurting himself and having to go to the Emergency Room. I conscientiously thought of all the outcomes and knew it was bad. I wish I could just not think or analyze. I am told by my husband I am the worst case scenario person.
According to Natural-fertility-info.com Our bodies are equipped to prevent conception during times of extreme stress. They also state this: Research tells us that stress boosts levels of stress hormones such as cortisol, which inhibits the body’s main sex hormones GnRH (gonadotropin releasing hormone) and subsequently suppresses ovulation, sexual activity and sperm count.GnRH is responsible for the release of Luteinizing hormones and follicle-stimulating hormones by the pituitary, the suppression of testosterone, estrogens, and sexual behavior.Chronic stress may cause lack of libido as well as a decrease in general fertility. This has become such a common issue that they have created a name for it Stress Induced Reproductive Dysfunction. These facts are very important to consider if you have been trying to conceive with no results. It also shows that stress releif should be a part of every couples conception plan even if they are going through IVF.Trying to carry a pregnancy to term during stressful times places the fetus at risk. The body knows this, which is why it creates an environment that is basically inhospitable to conception. Generally, a stressed person is an unhealthy person.
As you can see how much stress plays a role on fertility. Why do we stress? Is it because it’s something not in our control or that we have to have answers to? I know I am the type that wants to control things. I want to control how things will go and their outcomes. When I don’t have control I literally
freak out and don’t know what to do. It’s hard for me to not be in control. Believe it our not, it’s something that I have been dealing with for some time and something I am working with God on.
In our hearts we plan our course; But the Lord determines our steps. Proverbs 16:9
We need to not to over analyze things, look too much into what is going on in our bodies, try and find an answer. We need to simply plan our course and allow God to determine our steps. If we are following Him and His will for our lives it will be much easier to just let go. Let go of the stress that comes with all the questions that stir up in our minds about the little things. Did I do this or do that. Just embrace the journey. Do what you can on your part, believe you did it to the best of your ability and the rest is God’s battle. If we are doing all we can, why keep worrying? What does God say about worrying you may ask.
Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks. Philippians 4:6
Don’t worry about anything!! All we have to do is tell God what we need. Make requests while giving thanks. God knows the desires of our hearts. He already knows. All we need to do is believe, have faith, and wait. There is no need to worry or stress over things if God is on our side and he takes care of us every. single. day.
