Stress & Fertility

Are you stressed these days? Oh how I imagine life in general can cause someone to stress constantly. Work(all that comes with it),Paying bills,Caring for the house & those in it,Did you do this or did you do that, Do we have enough money this week for our basic needs…etc.

That is just daily routine things we think about and stress about. What about when we are trying to conceive?? That is another ball game. Did we baby dance on the right days, Did I take my temperature at the right time, Did I take the ovulation test at the right time, Did I pick my legs up high enough after baby dancing, Did I take all my vitamins, Did I drink enough water, Did I eat right today, Is this a symptom of pregnancy, When to take my pregnancy test???

The lists go on and on about all that we worry about, especially us women. I know for sure my mind races and races and I never can go to the next thing until I have figured out my first question of Did I do this?

Have you ever thought that this is my problem. This is why I am not expecting. This is why i’m infertile or haven’t had a little one yet. Stress plays a big role in this. I am first to admit that I literally stress over everything!

Why do we do this? Why do our minds have to run and race until we have an answer? Why can’t we just observe, know how our bodies work and wait? I am sure we were wired to be the cautious one out of male and female. I don’t know about you but my husband sometimes jumps into those situations that are just not safe. He does this because they seem fun and exciting. Just ask him, he has laid on the ground and shot those fireworks that are placed in a tube with a long wick and when lit gives a big BANG! That is just one instance. He thought it was fun despite the consequences. On the other hand I seen him hurting himself and having to go to the Emergency Room. I conscientiously thought of all the outcomes and knew it was bad. I wish I could just not think or analyze. I am told by my husband I am the worst case scenario person.

According to  Our bodies are equipped to prevent conception during times of extreme stress. They also state this: Research tells us that stress boosts levels of stress hormones such as cortisol, which inhibits the body’s main sex hormones GnRH (gonadotropin releasing hormone) and subsequently suppresses ovulation, sexual activity and sperm count.GnRH is responsible for the release of Luteinizing hormones and follicle-stimulating hormones by the pituitary, the suppression of testosterone, estrogens, and sexual behavior.Chronic stress may cause lack of libido as well as a decrease in general fertility. This has become such a common issue that they have created a name for it Stress Induced Reproductive Dysfunction. These facts are very important to consider if you have been trying to conceive with no results. It also shows that stress releif should be a part of every couples conception plan even if they are going through IVF.Trying to carry a pregnancy to term during stressful times places the fetus at risk. The body knows this, which is why it creates an environment that is basically inhospitable to conception. Generally, a stressed person is an unhealthy person.

As you can see how much stress plays a role on fertility. Why do we stress? Is it because it’s something not in our control or that we have to have answers to? I know I am the type that wants to control things. I want to control how things will go and their outcomes. When I don’t have control I literally freak out and don’t know what to do. It’s hard for me to not be in control. Believe it our not, it’s something that I have been dealing with for some time and something I am working with God on.

After all

In our hearts we plan our course; But the Lord determines our steps. Proverbs 16:9

We need to not to over analyze things, look too much into what is going on in our bodies, try and find an answer. We need to simply plan our course and allow God to determine our steps. If we are following Him and His will for our lives it will be much easier to just let go. Let go of the stress that comes with all the questions that stir up in our minds about the little things. Did I do this or do that. Just embrace the journey. Do what you can on your part, believe you did it to the best of your ability and the rest is God’s battle. If we are doing all we can, why keep worrying? What does God say about worrying you may ask.

Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks.  Philippians 4:6

Don’t worry about anything!! All we have to do is tell God what we need. Make requests while giving thanks. God knows the desires of our hearts. He already knows. All we need to do is believe, have faith, and wait. There is no need to worry or stress over things if God is on our side and he takes care of us every. single. day.

Nothing Changes Itself

Wow! I never looked at it that way! This post is something that is very hard for me to write. I have always struggled with loving myself on the outside. Now there are things that I do love: My face,Hair, legs and feet. Oh okay, so all that I don’t like is in the middle of my face and torso. I will say I don’t remember growing up hearing many compliments. I think that is why I don’t receive them well. Just ask the hubby! I have been trying so hard with smiling and simply saying “Thanks!” I am told by my husband that I have a face when I say Thank You to him when he gives me an compliment….. What, I make faces without even knowing? I can’t remember where I heard this quote from

When you don’t accept other people’s/husband’s compliments you are calling them liars

I do not want to call anyone a liar! So, The last week I have started my best to work towards a goal. A goal to change what I don’t like. Here’s an embarrassing fact my weight has fluctuated between 215-213 the last few months. That is 15-20 pounds heavier than my wedding day! :0  I made a goal to loose roughly 15 pounds by January 1st. My first thought was how in the world am I going to do that?? It’s like my mind instantly went negative! Why? I can do this! Of course this is just the start to my journey!

Like this quote says, If you want something you never had you will have to do things you never have done before. Starting with my mind. I need to get my mind positive and knock all of that negative talk and thoughts far away! I noticed my first instinct with everything is negative first. So this will be a tough one,but I can do this! Next, I need to stay on top of my daily vitamin intake and water intake. Oh how both do marvelous things for me. I have more energy and feel better! Then, knocking out sweets and processed foods out of my diet. Convenience is all we want. I will have to put sweets to once a week. I crave sweets everyday! It’s like my diet coke or meth addiction. Always wanting more… Enough with that. I will have to learn how to keep convenience still a part of this journey, but with fresh produce and quick meals that are so much healthier. Last, Exercise. Oh boy! The toughest one for me. I work 55 hours a week. 12 hours a day. Last thing I want to do is exercise. I will have to do it! I will have to make myself. No pain no gain, right? I can do this!

Changing doesn’t happen on it’s own. If it did, everything would be easy! I have a good support system. My husband is also on a weight loss journey. He has lost 15 pounds.. He looks even hotter than he did on our wedding day;) (I bet your grinning my stud muffin) Pray for us. Encourage us. I can do this, We can do this!

What an interesting thing to know!

Mug Exchange 2014

This is my first TTC exchange I have ever participated in. Chelsea at began this wonderful opportunity to give encouragement and make new friendships with those TTC. It’s for those in all areas of TTC: Infertility, adopting, pregnant or just had a baby. You sign up and matched with someone to send a package to. This exchange is focused around mugs! The exciting part is that who you are sending to is NOT who you will be receiving from. So you get to meet 2 people at the same time to encourage, pray for,and get to know!

I am sending to Anesia at She is also waiting for her bundle of joy! Please stop by at her blog and send her some encouragement & prayers! I am excited to be sending to her!

(Thanks Amie for giving me the idea to write a blog about the Mug Exchange and who I am sending to)

The Good Thing

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above. James 1:17

How lovely does that scripture sound?  It is so comforting to hear these words on bad days.Just thinking of all the good gifts that have came into my life makes me such a blessed lady. A very happy lady on those bad days. When I think of good gifts I think of my blessings God has given me. I have an awesome husband who is there on my best days and my worst. Who is eager to teach and guide me spiritually. A man who has such a gentle and kind heart whether it’s for me, the 3 ladies we take care of, or our pets. I was blessed beyond what I ever thought I would be blessed with in a husband. It wasn’t a good gift. It was a GREAT gift.Another good gift that has happened in my life was moving from Louisiana to Kansas. I would have never thought that would  happen, but it did. It was God’s gift to me and my husband. An amazing journey. What a great gift it has been financially, spiritually, and emotionally. We have been giving many good gifts!

Many people see this scripture and think of children. I know I have. Although, the scripture doesn’t have the word children in it. To me it tells me all good gifts and perfect gifts come from above, come from God. It teaches me that God is good. He wants to bless us. He wants to give. He loves me.

No good thing will He keep from those who walk uprightly. Psalm 84:11

Oh how I love love LOVE this. He will keep NO good thing from those who walk uprightly! He won’t keep good things from us! I have thought of children when writing this blog, but in my heart I know that what is good for me God will give to me. If it’s good for me to have my children He will give it to me. If it’s good for me to foster/adopt children He will give it to me.

He is God.God is good.Good things come from Him and He does not keep good things from those who walk uprightly!

Follow Him, He will show our path to us, and it will be good. Whatever it may be!

The WHY question

I found myself asking this question a lot. Especially in the beginning of this journey. We often ask Why and get an answer then ask another Why question. Why do we do that?..haha a Why question.

I am sure most of you going through Infertility asked the questions of

Why is that teenager in Highschool expecting and I’m not?

Or the question, why is this person on drugs and already lost her first 3 children pregnant again?

Why is everyone in my family experiencing parenthood, including those younger than me?

Why do we have to go through this?

Why me?

I have asked a lot of these questions. Sometimes I still ask them most of the time it’s on my really bad days. I try not to ask the why questions. I find it just makes me feel more negative about everything dealing with my journey. I know others may ask other Why questions dealing with their journey they are going through.. But.. I do have something that can help us when we start to ask those questions.

One day I was on a search and came across this blog,I believe. In this blog the writer talked about John 21:20-22

“Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them; he was the one who had reclined next to Jesus at the supper and had said ‘Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?’ When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus ‘Lord, what about him?’ Jesus said to him, ‘If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? Follow me!”

Oh My! Jesus tells Peter right here in verse 22 ” What is that to you? Follow me!”

What is it to us if our plan that God has for us wasn’t us getting pregnant right away or when we actually probably couldn’t afford a little one? What is it to us of everyone else’s plans God has for them and them only? What is it to us to ask the WHY questions?

Jesus declares us to just Follow Him. Don’t worry about what everyone else’s path is leading them to. Follow Me, I will show you your path and your path alone.

Let’s stop asking Why’s.Let’s listen. Let’s Follow Him.

Oh how I am thankful to have come across that blog and to remember that. I needed that recently in my life. I am working on this in my life. I am thankful we are still waiting. Waiting isn’t always fun,but there is always a reason why we wait.

Follow Him, I am sure we will find out all our answers through Him and In his timing.

After all He is never late, always on time!
